Our Story
Jon and Jim do not buy into the idea that you can serve more than one master, so they launched Prime Buchholz in 1988. Jon and Jim set up an office in Portsmouth, NH, working with a small support staff to provide investment advice to four institutional clients. Our president, Bill McCarron, joined in 1990, and together they put to work their belief that independence is essential to conflict-free investment advice.

Working as chief financial officers at prestigious universities, Jon Prime and Jim Buchholz became frustrated by a growing trend of money managers operating with clear conflicts of interest.
